A Party Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

A Party

Attending
Thereat
In my village
A marriage-party
In the nearby
Traditionally
Arranged
With a great
Pump and show
In its original chic.

Enjoying
With me
My grand-kids
Dorothy and Ronav
Prone to city life
Accepted it
With surprise
And sarcasm.

Refusing
To sit down
On the ground
For taking dinner
Without spoons
Over the entwined
Leaves of a tree
Specially meant
For plates.

Managing
A friend of mine
Anyhow
For them plates
And spoons
And then they
Enjoyed
The taste of
Preparations
So delicious
Fresh-raw
Mango-sauce
And soup
Thereafter
Having tasted
Now sense it
Time and again.

Bearing in mind
It emerges
A blend of rural
And urban trend
While everyone’s
Welcoming the change.
