A Pause Poem by Pamuditha Zen Anjana

A Pause

A lonely traveler stood frozen
up on the highest peak, the apex
of a floating, sullen iceberg
in an isolated sea of nowhen

A mind focused on a single task
a heart filled with love as, for him
universe existed and revolved
around that one single person

Had he taken his heart out
and showed her it's still beating,
still bleeding for her, but nay
he didn't, and she'd have known

Instead, had his eyes closed
with a lost smile on his lips
mere memories of eventides and
auroras playing on his inner eye

The iceberg sank slowly, with
him on its top, crawling under
as the questions burned him
and lead to the final meltdown.
