A Pearl Poem by Rishini Munasinghe

A Pearl

Crused and stomped by the weight of the waves,
Feel like a debtor who life time pays.
Throwen here and there for the pearl to bloom,
Feel like a Tuberose that never found the moon.
Swamped away by the winds of life hence and forth,
My legs wouldn't stop moving, they're doomed to go north.
Little vulnerabilities burried along the way,
Theives dug them up, now they are taking them away.
With scorching words they call unto me,
Like I'm the one who's with a stone cold heart, they just trying to heat it up for me!
What if it's the protectors who stole the treasure?
Where would the treasure run under the given pressure?
All that weight so you could turn out to be a diamond they say,
But do only the diamonds could pay the debt, I say.
One could be a diamond but the other could be a pearl,
Do you even care that the pearl could dance and twirl?
Or you just need a diamond to wear on your head so you could go around showing it to the world?
Because, pearls don't scream their value when the diamond does.
