A Penny For Your Thoughts Poem by Cody Burton

A Penny For Your Thoughts

'Hey buddy, how's it going? '
I look as my brother giggles at the puppet
'Superstar, keep reading the story! '
The puppet wanders around chatting with him
Watching as he reads with my mom and his puppet
I am overrun with bliss
Never have I seen such an adorable sight
Or heard such hysteria from one little child
I look back on that night, hoping for more
I wish times of such joy to never end

As he is laughing harder than the kick of a horse
I make the puppet say 'Lay down now! '
He says no, smiling and saying 'You lay down! '
'Wait, what? Don't make me do carrot-e on you! '
My heart warms like a baked potato as I
Hear his joyous voice and see his bright smile
Being able to see them daily gives me reason to go home
Though it also gives an occasional migraine
To you my beloved family, I give
A penny for your thoughts
