The Eradication Poem by Cody Burton

The Eradication

I see not the reason for war
Living constant fear of a lethal attack
My heart runs faster than the bullets fly
Our lives in duty remain constant nightmares
I no longer wish to carry on such hatred

Eradication creeps forth, ever so slowly
Continuous blood loss sending us to eternal slumber
Traumatic events that petrify us all
The time for sabotage is drawing near
Cannons exhale cannon balls like a man blows his nose

Always on guard, I wait for more bombs
I shout 'B-52! ' and run for cover and hide
Our ears ring like phones endlessly ringing
Night terrors keep us alert and on edge
Consistent blood flow from beheading their king

Decimation of the nation of terrorism
Swarms of bullets slaughter many
'Death to the infidels! '
I turn to my six as they thrust bayonet
Suddenly I awaken, realizing it was a dream
