A Perfect Gift Poem by Asma Khan

A Perfect Gift

He remembered me when
I freed all birds from the cage

He brought me glowing moons when
I burnt all stars in my way

He called me to sweet dreams when
I learnt to be awake in the lonely nights

He wished me love and joys when
I left the world for his sake

He wore the crown of victory when
I dried my tears to my own defeat

He woke me up from this dreams when
I promised to sleep in eternity

He quietened all storms of my complaints when
I punished my heart to die silently

He grew hopes on the barren soul of mine when
I killed the desires of my heart

He coloured my days dark and dull when
I embraced the springs of his destiny

He blamed me of ruining him when
I wrecked myself in his love

He patted me with guilt when
I broke down in his feet

He put me to a deep sleep when
I wished to wake up to his eyes light
