A Piece Of Land Poem by adele carlos

A Piece Of Land

Rating: 5.0

What will you do
How will you feel,
If you can't beat the odds
Because fate is against your will?

Say, you are a piece of land
Cultivated and nurtured by the Good Hands,
Fruits and flowers grow
Birds and butterflies visit, too.

Then there's this fruit you wished
It wasn't there at all,
Because you ate it
Now you fall.

Lo! A firm but sad voice you heard:
"Everything is free,
But did I not tell you
Not to eat from that tree? "

What will you do
How will you feel,
If you can't beat the odds
Was fate really against your will?

Yes, you were once a garden
See and feel,
Now you are dry and barren
Had nothing but weeds and snails,
Will you fret and fuss
"Why it was ever planted in there? "

For the sun still shine in a barren land
Even the sky pours some rain,
Now here comes the pretty little birds
An agents of change,
Dropped some grains
You will have fruits and flowers
But you will never be that garden
Never again.
