A Pioneer Poem by Ray Hansell

A Pioneer

They say she was a pioneer
Way before her time
She would always speak
Exactly what was on her mind

She never settled for, you can't do that
She never got discouraged
When told, women don't do that
It only seemed to make her flourish

The more she was told no
The more that she would fight
When asked the reason why
She said, because I have the right

Where does it say that women
Are restricted form certain things
Where does it say that this world
Must always be ruled by Kings

She can cook, she can clean
She can even raise a child
But when it comes to being in charge
Now that, some people just can't reconcile

Some people will say they support her
In everything she'll do
But those are mostly empty words
Spoken, from a chauvinistic view

When all some really want
Is for her to go away
That may have worked in the past
But it will not work today

You to can be a pioneer
Because now is the time
To wake up everybody
To help with, the changing of the minds
