A Pirate And His Ship Poem by Jay Lukaksi

A Pirate And His Ship

My life is a nuclear plant
Ready to explode any minute now.
And I'm just counting down the minutes,
till it happens.

Every insult that you throw at me
is just another tear down my face,
Another leak in my factory.
Oh, those leaks add up.

They say to hold on.
But I just wonder 'Why should I?
So I can be punished for not knowing you?
For being quiet and sitting next to you? '

So please remember that one day you will say something,
and it will be the last words you say to me,
The final words that echo through my head.
That will be the last day you see me.

That will be the day I explode,
When your radioactive insults push me to the ground.
I will be broken to pieces
And those pieces will be to scattered to put back together.
But you weren't going to try to put them together anyways.

Is that what you are waiting for?
To watch me break down into tears
and fall on my knees?
For my bottled up emotions to explode?

Well then, good news!
You just emotionally killed some one!
And now their physical death is coming soon.
Sooner than it should
and I blame you.

So go ahead,
call me a cutter
But if you do, show me the scars.

Go ahead,
call me suicidal.
I wanna see you try, cause I'm still here.

I'm not gonna give up so easily.
I'm not going to be a teenage tragedy,
another statistic on the 'Suicidal Teens' charts.
I'm going to be brave and pull through.

But if its too much for my frail body to handle,
then I will reluctantly welcome my time.
And like a pirate and his ship,
I will go down with my factory.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am currently letting out my bottled up feelings through writing. It has been a horrible month, and horrible school year. I have been called a female dog three times for no reason (seriously, I sat next to a girl and she called me that) , my first boyfriend, who I had a crush on for two years, ended up cheating on me, and this is the first year I have considered cutting myself.
But to all those suicidal teens and people thinking about it, keep holding on! Don't be another number added to the charts, get up and do something! I'm trying to enter this poem in a contest to raise awareness on bullying. Now its your turn.
If you are being bullied or having problems, please, please, PLEASE listen to the song 'You are the Heart' by Blood On The Dance Floor. Seriously, it changed my mind, hopefully it will change yours. I care, they care, SOMEONE cares.
