A Place Poem by Dean Bottomley

A Place

Everyone needs a place to hide,
Away from the world and all its woes.
A place to rest and maybe dream,
A place to escape which no-one knows.

Some find their peace on mountain peak
Close to the stars in indigo sky.
Beneath the ground in cavern dark
Amidst stalactite their solace find.

In verdant wood, by sparkling sea
We have that special place to go.
Some find their peace from deep inside,
A special peace few ever know.

A quiet bank by river cool,
That is where I find my peace of mind.
My hopes are met, my dreams come true,
Pain, hate and fear me cannot find.

Swift water takes my pain away,
I sit and dream neath oaken roof.
Secure and safe, sweet moments spent;
Then home again to life’s cruel truth.
