A Prayer Poem by Ashley Jarrett

A Prayer

Rating: 5.0

Whoever is looking down upon my life from up above,
Please do not be overly critical in your decision,
Please realize I try to walk my path with the utmost of love,
And at times my heart may outweigh logical reason,
And though reason and emotion do not always walk side by side,
I truly miss my mother's advice, and with her gone,
I try my best to make the two coincide,
She was always someone that I could lean upon,
And so I turned to my father's waiting hand,
But I soon found,
That I was alone where I stand,
And my path I would walk alone,
Please guide me in my time of need,
For I cannot see the steps ahead,
My heart I believe is how you speak, and so I shall heed,
Where my path shall lead,
Please think of me,
Every now and then,
And I shall be,
Grateful without end.

You were the one who clenched a hand. You were welcomed with open arms.
