A Prayer To The Gracious God Poem by Mohammad Younus

A Prayer To The Gracious God

O Master of the World,
Help me drink deeply of the elixir of wisdom, savoring its fullness, undistracted by the fleeting temptations of the wine of this world. That wine, so sweet to the senses, leaves only bitterness upon the soul, robbing it of its clarity, its peace. Let me not be seduced by its mirage, for it offers nothing but the illusion of fulfillment, while the elixir You offer nourishes the spirit and unveils eternal truths.

Guide my steps, O Creator, as I tread the valley of shadowed illusions, where truth hides beneath veils and distractions call from every corner. Anchor my heart with unwavering belief that within me burns a light, a spark kindled by Your breath, a gift of my creation. This light, though hidden, is my compass, my fitrah, my true essence—the essence uncorrupted, the essence You made me to be.

Help me, Merciful One, to uncover this fitrah, to know it not as a distant concept but as the core of my being. Let me hold it close, live by its truth, and walk in its light. Make me an honest believer, steadfast in my devotion, unyielding in my pursuit of what is pure and eternal.

Let this prayer rise to You as a whisper of surrender, as a plea from the depths of my heart. Āmēn.
