A Raw Deal Poem by John Sensele

A Raw Deal

Ever let frustrations grow wild
At a time when fear strangled you like a child
In scenes you seldom understood
Your mind interrogating why you felt misunderstood

When you always gave your best shot
Whether a task smelled cold or hot
But your efforts fell on cold marble
As though you played badly scrabble

Putting pieces on the board helter skelter
Snoring outdoors when you lost the shelter
Saving your mind from insanity
Lurking to devour sanity

You strove so hard to preserve
It felt a waste of time to serve
Hermetic doors
That wouldn't open as you froze on polar floors.
