A Return To The Past Poem by chris ryder

A Return To The Past

Rating: 5.0

once again i stand on the surf torn shore,
once again you are in my arms,
once again your hair seeks to escape my grasp,
to flow in the wind like some golden stream,

once again the tide roars in like an enraged beast,
you huddle up to me, i stand forward,
i bellow my challenge back to the waves,
for a moment the waves subside,

but once again they return stronger,
threatening to take me away from you,
my anger boils, blood through my veins,
once again i bellow my rage at the ocean,
once more i stand my ground and fight,

never look back never surrender,
head held high power flowing through my veins,
power which you gave me,
power to destroy,
power to create,
i choose to create,
i choose not vengeance,
i choose love and a life with you,

i turn from the waves now little more than a stream at my feet,
i have defeated my worst enemy,
i have defeated my fear my anger my sorrow,
i have defeated myself, no longer weak and scared;
all because of you,
you the love of my life.

i reach to the sky, you descend like some goddess from the heavens,
clothed in those of the gods up high,
power emanating from your sole person,
i bow to you, i kneel to you and only you.

you are the sun and the moon;
forever in my thoughts for all eternity shall you be there,
in life as in death i long to be with you,
to hold you and love you as best i can.
