A Salute To Elizabeth - Poem by Mamie Hodge
I am from Florida the "Sunshine State."
We Floridians come early and stay a
day late. We can hardly wait for that special day.
Come convention time we are on our way.
What a joy to see poets from around the
World and all the U.S.A. Yes our Conventions are special as can be
like a family reunion of our family tree.
As a Charter Member and lifetime too, it
is really a pleasure meeting you. Here we are all as one, sharing our culture
and having fun. Reading our poems waiting
for the news of which poems the judges will
choose The cocktail hour, mingling together, then
comes the banquet with delicious food and
speakers by guests or Senator McCarthy
with his funny yarns and closing statements
by our "Beloved President Elizabeth Barnes."
