A Second Life - An Illusion Poem by Jacson Gelato

A Second Life - An Illusion

Rating: 5.0

When will one stop to ask -
O God, can You give me second life to live
where it will be different, so different
that moon will not hide behind the clouds
and angrily watch the stars twinkle like diamonds,
where fishes will take a dive in the sea
and come out as if they have another house
on the mountains where they can go and sleep;
where cattle will sleep in their bedrooms
while the milkman will bake them a cake;
where lovers will feelat the end of the day
they have no dreams to share or relate;
where many eyes would keep looking at a rainbow
that danced as if the sky belonged only to it?

How much of a second life
would one not want, a different one from this;
where no cars but rockets tossed them in minutes
on a holiday to a destination they longed to go;
where many tables of food got laid
and all one could do was over-eat;
where cellars were dark and dinghy
that as one picked a bottle of wine, it was a vodka;
where there many were girls in a nightclub
and only the most wicked one stole the show and night sleep;
where money was so full in the coffers
that the more one spent, the less it felt;
where many were disappointments
yet joys and pleasures exceeded in this present life?

Still, how much of a second life would one not want
where old parents lived till they were hundred
and no one young ever died or caused any grief;
where doctors and patients were many
and the nurses were so few to care or help out;
where streets were dirty and garden swings were broken
yet everyday of life felt so precious?

A Second Life, a second life
who would not want,
where children would not stop laughing
and teachers would not stopteaching?
where sugar was salty and salt was like sugar
and the tea tasted like ocean water in every sip;
where butter never melted like cheese
yet cheese was more yummy than ice cream;
where sour were chocolates and puddings
to make one feel the second life was not worth it;
and though men keeps pining for re-birth,
one life is all one gets to taste and tally
one's desires and fantasies, one's hopes and realities.

Good poem. This is why it is essential to live in life to the max. There is no second life. This is it.
