A Silent Threat Poem by Brittany Sczech

A Silent Threat

I don't like this feeling
Swelling up inside

I get over-protective
It's so difficult to hide

I get angry so easily
And fair judgment falls short

I feel conflicted and confused
Too many feelings to sort

I want to be up front
To question and implore

About this new friend
A threat I can't ignore

But it's rude to make assumptions
Rude to ask for control

But jealousy hurts inside
It really takes its toll

The hardest part about it
The part I just can't stand

Is not telling him I'm jealous
...

I keep my mouth shut..
My face straight..
And continue to hold his hand.
