A Simple Red Herring Poem by Emaleigh Marie

A Simple Red Herring

My other best friend Alyssa, wrote this poem and said I could submit it on here.

Love is but a red herring my darling,
Always leading you down the wrong path, by giving us hope,
That love is real, that people are true and honest.

No one is faithful, everything is about lust,
Nothing more than pure burning passion lust.

The most heinous of the deadly sins,
The most committed crime, most easy to fall into,
Hearts do not feel love, the brain deceives you.

So you suffer the worst pain and lose yourself,
After realizing nothing is between you two,
It's two late to take back those things said.
All the words to get in your partner's head.

Lies that spewed from your mouth like the blood from my veins,
My mind screaming for the suicide of me,
All because of the deceitful love you gave me.
