a Single Mother Poem by Diana Ballesteros

 a Single Mother

am a single mother at a young age, I have skipped many stages of my life, I must mature fast and not think as a young adult. I must learn quick that I must pick up his part too, I must be a father and a mother because am left to do two parts in my child life. I had to pick up his half and just move on. I must not only deal with my broken heart, but then again also to never break my own daughters' heart, to not let mine choices crush her soul. I want to raise her to always be full of love and happiness. One day I must tell her that he also moved on, from her life, and it is okay she doesn't know who he is, it doesn't matter if he doesn't care for her because she has me. I love my Cami is much that I would give her the world to see her smile, Cami is mine joy, she is my light in my dark world. I want to do better than better. I want her to have a life that her father and I would have never given her because he was all into being a failure, he was okay with so little. He never saw over the horizon, that life isn't all fun. He was okay not doing anything in life even for himself. But Cami brings the best out of me and am a great worker because of her, because she is my life. only a single mother learns very fast how to become not only a woman but also a father. We are sweet and spoil our children like a soft kiss of a mother. We can also be tough and firm even if we don't want to be hard with our children, but we must because our children well be part of a society and we want our children to be better than us.
