A Sitting Duck Poem by D.S. Bell

A Sitting Duck

I walk in solitude
With this secluded road.
On to where I go,
A place I know but
Here, silently alone.

I mistook their wry
Face for a shoulder
To cry on.
This mistake I make
Many of, I own.

Feast your eyes here
On this mess
They made,
Of this lover
Done wrong.

In the dark
I seated, stayed
In a childlike state.
All of Faith
A fool, I rely on.

Compel my reach,
The way they pulled me in
Twice the drifter,
Me and love,
Now together
Roam.
