A Slow Dance Poem by Eduardo Torres

A Slow Dance

I had a feeling,
someday you'd be mine

I took you out to dinner
we talked, laughed, enjoyed life.
you had to go

I asked you to wait
you waited

we got into my car and drove off
parked somewhere where no ones ever been.
I stepped outside the car played a song
turned my high beams on
I opened your door, took your hand, walked
to the front of my car with the light
shining all over your face
you put your arms on my shoulders,
I put my hands on your waist.
we took the first steps side... to side...
A feeling I shared with you
I finally say the three words I couldn't say.
'I love you'
you stood there
with a smile on your face saying
'I love you too'
we danced a slow dance
cherishing a moment that will forever stay in my heart.
