A Solemn Plea Poem by Peter Omoko

A Solemn Plea

Rating: 5.0

I am tired of starring
at nonsense apparitions

I am tired of loneliness
when the spirit burns wanting to hold

I am tired of condescending
causing inner grief and strife

I am tired of being called upon to serve
let me be served

I am tired of asking
let me be asked

I am tired of being used
let me use others

I am tired of pampering
let me be pampered

I am tired of only giving
let me also receive

I am tired of pleasing
let me be pleased

I am tired of running errands
let me be the boss

I am tired of dreaming
let me find fulfillment

I cry to you my hallowed muse
do not hold back from me

Direct my tongue to the canal of success
that my song may tingle the ears of curious merchants

Why should I be denied of joy and happiness
when indeed I can have it in abundance and share
