A Song Of Introspection Poem by Dr John Celes

A Song Of Introspection

I fall in sin again, again!
It is my weakness, Lord;
I fully know, I cannot gain
Heav'n, unless I live by Your Word!

The tempter tells the same old lies,
And offers joyous moments fast;
I fall in raptures in his highs,
And add on to my sinful past!

How many times, I fall in sin!
I feel the shame at times so much;
Christ's Holy Ghost, nudges me, ‘Win! '
By prayer and the Cross' touch!

'Tis Jesus who raises me up,
Each time I fall in path of truth;
Unquenched, athirst by bitter cup,
His drink of love helps me to soothe!

I long to turn a saint on earth;
My sinfulness will not leave me;
I thank God for my glorious birth,
Do lead me to Eternity!
