A Split In My Heart Poem by Wael Karameh

As if my cells were shedding inside me in every direction
Like a defeated army that had lost its leader, its courage…
I felt I was going to explode or my body was under dissection
When I heard your voice telling me goodbye with a lot of rage…

I failed to take my breath till I lost consciousness…
It was just for a moment but appeared to me as long as an era…
I was extremely afraid as I could not move, speak or even see
I only felt your tears speaking silently and this really shocked me
As if trying to wash my pain like a strong wave of a mad sea…

Inside me something refused to accept the touch of your hand
It was like a message of pity you were trying to send…
Slowly I opened my eyes and uttered few words telling you to go
You chose the road of reality but you can’t oblige me to do so…
please Leave me to my destiny…
I will always try to write a poem that may never exist
In love the dream is so strong so that it can ever persist…
