A Staycation Poem by Maureen Pickford

A Staycation

Bright sunshine sparkles on the sea glimpsed through
Wall arches hung with patterns of rose lace
It gladdens my heart to know that this place
Will always be here to visit with you
So, here we sit on deckchairs white and blue
Companions throughout the lazy day
The clocktower chimes, our cares drift away
How lucky we are with nothing to do
Later on we'll take a stroll and climb down Jacob's Ladder to the sea
Then under hanging rocks; our favourite walk to town
Back at our hotel, afternoon slumber
Leads to more delight
Oh, what lives we own
When all our years bring ever more wonder
