A Stitched Song Poem by Sani Ammani

A Stitched Song

I pick some words and put them together
And stitch some sweet soft song
Be not amazed
It is for you
For none but you
Keep it very close to you
In a secret place
Known to only you

Read it aloud every day
Read it line by line
Read
Even in-between the lines
Understand it
And try not to forget
A single word from it

It is said that
‘Some are born great
Some achieve greatness
And some have greatness
Thrust upon them’
You are naturally great

Banya beauteous beyond bayani
Banya bit of clay
Golden clay
Some clean clay beyond scatter
And I call you terra cotta

You are beauteous beyond bayani
And I love you so much
Every blink of the eyes
Every breath of the lungs
Every beat of the heart
Every inch and fibre of me
I love all of you

I appreciate
The magnitude of your certitude
You have
An attitude of gratitude
And speak
The language of gratitude
So, I cherish
The verisimilitude of your fortitude
And love you
In exactitude of my aptitude
I am grateful
For your solicitude
