A Stone Under My Pillow Poem by Philani Zincume

A Stone Under My Pillow

Rating: 5.0

I always enjoyed throwing stones in the air.
I guess it’s because of how easy it was to let it go from my hand.
Until one day when I found a small unique stone by a river.
I never knew how to throw it away.
I tried. I failed.
It was the 1st time I admitted failure.
I kept it under my pillow.
Every night brings a pain,
Because there’s a stone under my pillow.
Sometimes I try to shift my head
But yet I find myself, stuck in the same position.
The stone has grown; it has now become a rock.
Sometimes I hope that water would come out of this rock.
Sometimes the time to let go of the stone comes
But then I realize that the stone is now a rock.
Who shall roll this rock for me?
