A Story Poem by Mark Trajano

A Story

A story that flavoured everyone’s life,
same story shared with the dawn and the night:
an old man of no story and no wife,
holds on to his cane and white hair with might.

Unshakable, he’s been, with dear fellows,
untouched by words, undefined by senses,
they nurture him-removing vile sorrows-
granting the power’f heart that intenses.

Traversing the body, the mind and soul,
he bridges the ocean and illusions
hoping to attain his ultimate goal,
as he sees hourglasses ‘nd confusions.

Taking delight in every breathe and smile,
efforts diminish with passing of time.
Freeing himself of bondage of nth mile,
this old man lets everything go in rhyme.

Subtle and powerful. As people grew old, they begin to wonder..has his life attained its purpose? But at the end of the day, he just have to enjoy what is left on his short life and made it fruitful. I wonder what your inspiration for this poem is. I enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing. Diane
