A Tapestry Poem by Carla Hart Ruber

A Tapestry

Nearly everywhere,
There are stands of pines,
Crowded gently by multitudes
Of other kinds of trees.

Each fighting for the right to live,
Each leaf reaching for their light
To give them growth.

Waving and dancing, with every
Breeze, seen from above as
Tremulous seas, sustaining Life.

Trees breathe in what we breathe out.
Filtering our air, just standing about.
With roots dug in and limbs flung wide,
Their beauty is a pageantry on every side.

A living tapestry! Creweled in greens,
Yellows, browns; painting vivid scenes.

Purple and blues, so many bright hues.
Pinks and reds spilling over into
Wild grasses and flowers;
Bedecking our view.
