A Temple Of The Sun Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

A Temple Of The Sun

The sun temples herself in the open skies
A shrine of shadow and light
With a glaring stare into the vast
That skims the very tops of all creation
Silent are the voices of the ethereal worshipers; an encircle of oracles

Ephemeral explosions of warm smiles
That thread through the mysteries of creation
Whose tawny glow, bathe the kegs of libations
Perhaps at sighting of thirst quenching waters of the seas
As she traverse the face of the earth

Before she pulls the cover of the moon over her face
The very temple without walls
Where pillars of darkness cast long shadows into the endless expanse
And withdraw into the cavern of darkness to reflect
The sun temples herself in the vastness of the deep

A mesmerizing ball of fire
With a myriad of twinkling fiery balls around her; all in reverential awe
The whole universe dance in tandem to a tune yet to be played
