A Traveler Walking Poem by Mohammad Younus

A Traveler Walking

A traveler walking
from eternity,
the zigzag roads of life,
with blind turns,
brim-filled with strife,
undaunted, determined—
carving paths through stone,
rowing through winds alone.

With weariness ne'er rife,
he did not yield,
no, he made it through,
sober and steeled.
No tears in his eyes,
head held high,
gazing upon the divine.

Here, tonight, I find myself—
longing for heaven,
my birthplace above.
I know I may go
on divine wings alone.

Forever ready,
I will not halt my quest.
Lord, I call upon
Your eternal strength;
at every length,
I shall rise,
I shall rise,
I shall rise,
never to swoop down,
only to soar.
