A Tribute To A Salesman Poem by Prafulla Sahu

A Tribute To A Salesman

A tribute to a salesman

(When I inquired at the counter of Tulip Town to buy something to feed my grandson, i was informed that the counter was then closed. However seeing the baby in my arms the counter salesman obliged with a pony packet of cookie with a smile, saying a big Hi)

The counter is closed
The system is shutdown
Yet the baby gets his cookies
From the hands of a salesman
With a smile
Free, absolutely free
It happens in Tulip Town

Tulips' softness
Spread over human breasts
Riches never make a people rich
Richness of heart
Makes a country so rich

A smile coated cookie
Never goes unpaid
It sells the richness
That dollars cannot pay .

Where dollars fail
Hearts count
This happened in Tulip Town-
A state of flowers.
