A True Lie? Poem by Simon Matar

A True Lie?

Rating: 5.0

If our days were to be lived backwards
If battles are won with no guns or Swords
If poems were to be written without words
or kingdoms to be lead without Sirs or Lords
If love was to be felt without our hearts
or drawings to be painted without any charts
if trains were to be driven without carts
and museums to be empty of their arts
Then my love to you was all about a lie
and for you, I was never ready to die
