A Tussle Forever Poem by Basu Maan

A Tussle Forever

The vast overhanging sky – blue, bright,
adorn with floating clouds – silky white,
looks down upon the sea, so full of pride,
having the moon close – always held tight!
The sky, swollen with pride, looks down
upon the unfathomable sea – deep, dark,
so happy to possess the beautiful moon,
within its infinite expanse – all his own.
Underneath, on earth, the blue sea lay,
with turbulent, waves – rolling, roaring,
lashing on the hard rocks – along the bay,
then foam, froth – while smashing away.
The sea is as restless as the waves it holds,
even then the sea is always happy, though
on its bare chest, so many a tides unfolds,
seems each one of them, hope upholds.
The sky knows not that the sea smiles too
within itself, as it can see the moon smiling
always at him – all the night – entice, woo
showing the darker rear to the sky – proud, blue.
The moon stays in the sky, but her shadow rests
on the bare chest of the sea – who cuddles her
with loving waves – embracing her with his crests
while the sky knows not, love between them nests.
The sky is happy and the sea happy too.
Dare to ask the moon, she cares for whom?
The moon lies with the sky; can the sea for once argue?
The sea is blessed with all her smiles; can the sky undo? (2005)
