A Virtuous Woman Poem by Bree Z Love

A Virtuous Woman

Rating: 5.0

Opening to the experience,
of growing in muddy trenches.
Allowing the adaptation for any environment,
It's survival.
I am Knowledge and Wisdom!
How did I get here?
When they claimed, I was too Afro-centric;
so, I gave them Charisma with it.
I knew for myself that it was my beginning.
Thinking like the Great Aristotle.
Determining this courage;
rather than present meekness,
I manifested favor over fear.
I am Courage!
How did I get here?
When I committed to walking away.
I did it with boldness.
Never blinking an eye.
With my head held high!
I walked out not with an S.O.S flag but a flag for pride.
I am Humanity.
How did I get here?
I did it by standing up for Sue, the whipping poled transgender.
While, my lipstick stain lips were admired but hated when I voiced and challenged the perverse perceptions without a clue.
So, I spoke out because I was too victimized but by my same loving gender partner.
I am Justice!
How did I get here?
I made them see me beyond the label; I was due the same civil rights.
Speaking with grace and not hate.
I am Temperance!
How did I get here?
I forgave my abuser and prayed for their forgiveness and did not summon vengeance.
I walked away from the death summoned by the Death Angel
that Stalks, yet never prevails.
I am Transcendence!
How did I get here?
By Miracles and Grace, I am still here.
Standing in the midst of Storms as a living vessel and as
a Virtuous Woman.
