A Visit Poem by Michael J Williams

A Visit

I don't visit as often as I should
Time just seems to slip away
I miss our trifling conversations
There are always little things to say

Your new home is quite quiet
A downright peaceful place to stay
Sometime in the future I'll join you
But I best go home today

I'm not ready for your community
As I've got lots more work to do
Things I've left undone… and done all wrong
Things that need finished and fixed anew

I'll take a well-deserved rest and retire soon
When the work's all done… and done right and true
And someday I'll be your neighbor
In a plot right close to you
