We made a commitment to one another
That we'd walk through life together
Every step of the way
For ever and ever

Nice thought - that
Only
We'd forgotten
No matter how hard we tried
No human being
Could ever hope to replicate
Anothers footsteps

Yes!
The painful realisation dawned
That eventually
Essentially
Each and every one of us
Is ultimately on his own

And MUST walk through life
Absolutely and totally alone
