A war remembered
It was a long time ago.
The plane came afar; the night was utterly dark
The enemy dropped bombs from small planes
That could not carry heavy missiles.
The chance of being hit was remote
But where they fell, made a racket and flames
Dogs howled cats disappeared
We sat in darkness to the sound of planes vanished
Mother told stories she had read when young
It was a good time to be alive.
