A Warrior's Tear Poem by Saavi Garg

A Warrior's Tear

Rating: 4.3

Darkness looms over the battlefield,
A rising storm in each heart.
Clad in armor, sword and shield,
a trumpet bellows on each part.
There he lunges forward.
Here he leaps toward.
Seconds to collide, but inside
a slow motion cast.
Longing for a future.
Cherishing the past.
Sun beams on dew laden flowers.
Sleeping sky alive by dotted stars.
His child's radiant face,
in his beloved' embrace.
Suddenly, he wakes up with a hefty start.
His sword pierces through the opponent's heart.
The warrior in an overpowering outrage.
The wildest animal ever seen out from cage.
He swirls, swishes, swivels his weapon.
Dropping heads and limbs a dozen.
Foe's end near,
victory seemed clear.
Grotesque gashes all over,
he fell to his knees.
To the warrior, bloody
but sweet felt the breeze.
A jerk but cut his moments of peace.
From his chest an emerging metal piece.
A split second before his soul was free,
the warrior shed a tear for now he will never see.
Sun beams on dotted stars.
Sleeping sky with dewy flowers.
