A Widow Poem by Dr John Celes

A Widow

She, having lost her husband very soon
After her marriage, while with babe in womb,
Well accepted a life without a moon,
With just a female child that was welcome!

She got a job on compassionate grounds,
And spent her days just trusting in the Lord;
When child graduated, her joy knew no bounds!
Her only solace turned to be God’s Word!

Years rolled off pretty rapidly for her;
She never had a dream that her own;
Some childhood memories, she could gather;
For long, her solitude remained unknown!

But when her new-wed daughter left her too,
She wondered what only, she could ev’r do?
