A Wish Poem by Peter Karweru

A Wish

I have always wished this,

That you know what language speak my eyes,

Each time your palms clasp my cheeks,

or whenever you seek deep into my pink lips,

The shock wave that transpires down to my hips,

makes me think of the amazon leaves,

So green so full of life,

just auspicious as my wife,

The Templar of beauty and love,

Whatever is the beauty of it,

whenever next to me you seat,

so kindly yet so tenderly you I wish to treat.

Yet whenever am all alone in the house,

I feel your warm embrace,

each time my troubles all elapse,

And I always feel all new again and full of purpose,

with you each time is the first time,

And the last when we fall coz we rise,

With every rise of the sun,

In it I see my moon,

That guides me through the darkest of seasons,

And saying 'I love you' does no one justice,

nor shall it do anyone injustice,

Because I know I have enough reasons.
