A Wish Is A Dream Your Heart Makes Poem by Daniele Cerasoli

A Wish Is A Dream Your Heart Makes

I wish that things were the same
That everything was back to normal.
We used to be so comfortable with each other
Now it just seems awkward.

I wish for those days in the library, at school
When we would just sit and talk.
We always wanted to be together,
So when you stopped coming
It felt like you didn't want me.

I wish for the talks that you and I would have.
Those were what I loved most about you
Because they let me understand you
And speak to you in a way that I never could with anyone else
A way that very few could appreciate;
That maybe only you and I could appreciate...

I wish for those times
When you would wait with me after school
Because my dad was late.
I loved just sitting and talking to you
Because you were the one person I always loved being with
No matter what the situation was.

I wish that we could talk all the time like we used to
That we could both get excited when we saw who the text was from
That we could both look forward to talking to each other
And that we would never want the conversation to end.

I wish that a day will never come
When you won't want to be close to me
Or I won't want to be close to you
Because to lose that one person who means more to you
Than anything else in the world -
Than words can even explain -
Is too painful to even think about.

I wish that we could grow old together
Maybe as a couple, maybe not,
But either way, I can't imagine life without you in it
I believe in letting someone go if you love them,
Thinking that they will come back if they love you too -
So if we both love each other,
Even if we get lost from one another,
We should always find our way back
And grow old together.

But most of all
I wish that we could be like we were
Completely loving one another
Trusting one another
Caring for one another
Because without you
There is a big hole inside of me
A large, empty space with nothing in it
That you, and only you, can fill
Because no one else could even come close to filling it.

I wish you would come back to me.
