A Worldly View Poem by Mark Pietrosanto

A Worldly View

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes what you achieve
is what you believe.
Our capabilities are so vast
we cannot be judged by our past.

Those yesteryears of times gone by
are just a glimpse of you and I.
Time is fleeting, oh so fast
but past impressions they will last.

It all seems based on what you do
how they see us, me and you.
Try as you may or how you must
little things can cause a fuss.

A reputation becomes soiled
despite the fact of how we toiled.
Be careful of the things you do
for they may come back to haunt you.

All those words that you have spoken
can be spent just like a token.
So careful of the words you say
They follow you throughout your days.

I guess that's all I have to say
You will do things your own way.
It may destroy what you achieved
and goes back on what you believe.

It's funny how we fool ourselves
with plaques and trophies on a shelf.
Though you think you're oh so kind
You can't control beyond our mind.

Fool yourself as people will
words can be a bitter pill.
Do what you may or what you must
History will make the fuss.
