Abandon Me Quick Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Abandon Me Quick

She abandoned me today;

And the Sun, entangled to her hair

At one moment, in the brief stifling second

I lost myself with her on the passenger seat,

Making my way beyond defeat,

But still, her eyes rampaged like deadlocks.

-

She told me, she wanted to see me today,

With a faint hope in my eyes, I tried to exhaust myself

With thoughts of candid veracity and ebullience

Yet, people tell me, to rest and find repose

Because it is time to restore one’s self

And I will see you past the corridors

-

With your oversized handbag sprawling across

Your white, scrawny arm and I will remember

How you always saunter past my way, without any word

You leave me there, behind you, cold and barren

Like a cloud hoisted beneath one’s feet

-

In one night, you would feel alone and stark

Like a candle dying to ignite a spark – you will be

I assure you, because the memories cannot assuage

What longing you have, but do not worry

I have known you for long, and in an abrupt sleep

You would soon forget, faster than any train.

-

I feel the immense night talking,

Trying to descry what ambiguity lies within

My tears not of emerald, not of diamond nor topaz

But rusting gears of whirring clocks

That tells every second, every day that is lost

Way back in the wintry air of the disarming frost

-

The moon has died, in the mere presence

Of the palest streak of the young Sun

As it tries to show its crown above the clouds

I am frowned upon by a crowd,

I am pitied by the people around me,

But all my fingers point towards the day,

That I have lost myself when I told you,

In full sincerity I have loved you for long.

-

You are spinning the days into forgetting,

Your decision is inexorable, the flailing grass snares me

To the ground, I cannot move nor make a sound

I am silenced by this blight,

And deprived of all light

When I have loved you in the Sun,

And still did in the night.
