Behold! The maiden near the lake
the plattitude serene
concords the right proportions
attitude determines.
I have seen beauty in a child's smile
the sincerety of the love bequeathed
never to own each other
simply adore and admire
each other in their arms
not yet to touch
hugged tenderly by eyes
never kissed.
I have seen beauty in mammoth trees
thousand years of loneliness
have seen much felt much
yet never to move
not yet withered,
whispers slowly to a passer by
mellow green shade.
I have seen beauty in the sea
roars and laments silently with me
about the fisher men lost
in her depths,
people who could never come back
to their beloveds.
In sleep the soft bud
murmurs about the tomorrow
which I fear.
