About Levitation

Rating: 5.0

I like the idea of people defying gravity
and rising into the air. Is such extraordinary
and miraculous thing really possible?

As a poet I believe in the reality of magic
and don't deny the existence of the paranormal.
On the other hand, I am also a skeptic
and aware of the fact that there is no
scientific evidence for the existence
of levitating people.
But history maybe contradicts the skeptics.
Also, according to the Gospels,
Jesus walked on the waters of Lake Galilee.
Furthermore, Buddha's miracles included
walking on waters, too.
And how about the story of
the Hindu mystic Yogi Subbaya Pullavar
who was reported to rise into the air
for four minutes in front of a crowd
on June 6,1936.
The list of levitating people includes
Padre Pio, a Franciscan Capuchin
born in 1887, who was able to rise into the air.
However, perhaps the most bizarre
of recorded levitation cases imvolves
the celebrated English psychic medium
Daniel Dunglas Home (1833-86)
that occured in London in the year of 1868.
It took place in the presence of
Lord Adare, Lord Lindsey and Captain
Charles Wynne, at 5 Buckingham Gate.
At this address, Home floated out a third-floor
window, continued his levitation and flew
through another window, entering
the building. Soon after this, he repeated
the whole astounding levitating act.
It is important to add that Home's strange story
was never exposed as trickery.
The case is considered as
an unsolved mystery in psychical research.

Paul, Home's levitation may have been a case of astral projection which I have personally experienced on a number of occasions. The late, and great, Canadian illusionist had personally experienced watching people levitating at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's retreat in Switzerland.
