Abstract Thoughts Poem by Ibn Ali

Abstract Thoughts

I've seen men walk paths
Traverse
Arms flanked
Outstretched
So close to flight
Yet far removed

Spectacled dreams
Draw near the far
Yet further still
In conscious thought
My present ills take corporal form
I'm bathed in sin
Hope not to drown
When bouyed by faith
I hear the call
I hear my name
I'm gripped with fear
I seek to move
But find I'm stayed

My mind's at sea
I go to speak
My mouth is bridged
The dam constricts from thought to speech
The stream that gushed is forced to leak
I see the words
Strung on their string
Each letter bold
The message clear
The bane of all my hurt and fear
FAILURE
