Abut Her Old Co-Teachers.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

my science teacher in
my elementary grade is already
80 years old
and being then of old age
stayed at home
quarantined for this covid year
and had to learn Facebook
thru her granddaughter to please
herself, or at least, as she told me,
to keep her own kind
of happy dispositionif not sanity.

we were chatting the whole afternoon
until she reached to some kind of hard
questions for me to answer, personally:

she heard i got married and she opined
that my wife is beautiful and rich, and then
she asked how many kids do we have?

i always evade this kind of private intrusions,
and so i went the other way of informing her
that mrs. cabaron and mrs. bustalino are also
in their 80's and would really like to meet her
perhaps after this quarantine, perhaps when
the vaccine is finally out for everyone.

she asked me: who are they?
