Abyss Of The Human Poem by Bireswar Halder

Abyss Of The Human

The structure is of a human
It's all flesh and blood
But heart remains empty
Humanity left it long back
Humans are only beastly, inhuman.
Love, compassion and sympathy
All are left in palimpsests of holy books
No place for tender feelings, for honesty
Where are they in the heart?
Are we really civilised?
No, we're not, we the species of the self-centred
Are we really fit for the society?
Not really, we're such stone-hearted for the fellowmen
Are we returning to mediaeval age?
Maybe because of our barbaric bearing
A man dying on street accident, no help, no anguish
A woman burns herself in park
We stay passive onlookers
A helpless parent thrown out to streets
Children remain apathetic
Noble service of doctors turns to be only business
Not a little bit of sympathy in their hearts for the patients
Instead of treatment, sucking of blood is only motto like vampire
Do we really deserve to be called humans?
Why soft heart becomes so stony, so cruel?
We have eyes but we're blind
We have sense but we mock it
It's completely meaningless life
As if an inanimate substance
How long will this slumber last?
None is there to awaken us
And to lead us to light, for a pinch of humanity.
