ACCEPTING

The white swan came for you
Carried you high above the world
Beyond the silver, starlit skies
That reflected in the old moon's eyes
He flew with wings unfurled.

Lost to me the fire that burned
Within my heart for thee
Lost, my comfort and my peace
As I feel the cankerous pain increase
And burning teardrops swell in me.

Oh love, how I've searched for you
Deep in the whispering pine wood
Beside the valley's gurgling streams
Through the forests of my dreams
Just to hear your voice. Imagining I could.

Soul weary now I sit me down
In winter's snow white silence
And conquer half my bosom's sadness
For searching brought my soul to madness
Let me now live with less defiance.
